Information We Process
Profile and account-related information
We may process information you choose to provide for your profile and use of the app, including your display name, profile image, login state, language preferences, and app settings.
Practice, conversation, and content information
We may process information you submit while using the app, including text entered for practice or translation, speech input and transcripts generated from it, AI conversation messages, images selected for image translation, images and text included in community posts, and actions related to reporting or blocking users.
AI feature input data
When you use AI Talk or Image Translation, we process only the input you choose to submit for that feature. This may include text messages you type, voice-transcribed text you choose to send, recent conversation context needed to generate an AI reply, and images you select for image translation, including any visible text or other visible content contained in that image.
Purchase information
If you make an in-app purchase, we may process product identifiers, purchase status, and coin balance information needed to provide the purchase and related app access.
Support communications
If you contact us, we may process your email address, the content of your message, and any information you include so we can respond and assist you.
How We Use Information
- To operate the app and provide language learning features.
- To personalize your experience based on selected languages and settings.
- To process text, images, speech-derived input, and AI requests you choose to submit.
- To send AI Talk and Image Translation inputs to our AI service provider only when needed to return the result you request.
- To manage profile information, user content, and community interactions.
- To process in-app purchases and maintain coin balances.
- To protect the app, address misuse, and respond to support requests.
Permissions and Device Access
Depending on the features you choose to use, Zovy may request access to your microphone, camera, and photo library. These permissions are used to support speech-based features, image selection, profile image updates, sharing, and image translation. AI feature data is sent only when you initiate the relevant AI request and, on first use, after you provide the in-app AI data consent.
AI Features and Third-Party Processing
AI Talk
When you send a message in AI Talk, Zovy sends the text you typed, any voice-transcribed text you choose to send, and the recent conversation context needed to generate a coherent reply to DashScope, the AI service provided by Alibaba Cloud Model Studio. This data is used only to generate the AI response you requested.
Image Translation
When you use Image Translation, Zovy sends the image you select, including any visible text and other visible content in that image, to DashScope so it can extract text and translate it into your chosen language. Zovy does not use this feature for face recognition or identity verification.
Third-party provider
In the current app build, AI Talk and Image Translation requests are sent to DashScope, operated by Alibaba Cloud Model Studio. We require service providers that process data for us to protect that data and to use it only for providing the requested service.
Consent before sending AI data
Before the first time you use an AI feature that sends data to DashScope, Zovy shows an in-app consent notice explaining what data will be sent, who receives it, how it is used, and where to find more details in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, the app will not send that AI feature data.
When We Share Information
We may share relevant information with service providers when it is necessary to operate requested features. This may include:
- Language and translation providers, including Google Cloud Translation.
- Alibaba Cloud Model Studio DashScope for AI Talk responses and Image Translation processing.
- Platform payment services, including Apple, for in-app purchase processing.
- Other service providers when required for security, compliance, or lawful requests.
We do not authorize these providers to use your data for their own marketing purposes when they are processing it on our behalf for the app feature you requested.
We do not sell your personal information.
Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the app, support your use of its features, address disputes or requests, enforce our terms, and meet legal or operational needs.
- AI Talk conversation history is stored locally on your device so you can reopen prior chats, and you can clear that history in the app.
- Zovy does not store source images used for Image Translation on its own servers.
- For the direct API calls used by Zovy, Alibaba Cloud Model Studio states that it does not save conversation data and retains only desensitized call status.
Your Choices
You can update profile details, change language settings, remove content you create, clear AI conversation history, and use the delete account option available in the app. You may also manage device permissions through your device settings. You may choose not to use AI Talk or Image Translation, and if you decline the AI data consent prompt, the app will not send the related AI feature data to DashScope.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information handled through Zovy. No method of transmission, storage, or processing can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we work to limit misuse and unauthorized access where reasonably possible.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of Zovy after an update means the revised policy will apply.
